why organic?

Firstly, lets start off with what the term 'organic' means. Organic refers to the way agricultural products are grown and processed. Organic means working with nature, not against it. It means no manufactured herbicides, artificial fertilizers, no antibiotics and no genetically modified organisms used. In New Zealand alone 3000 tons of pesticides (insecticides, herbicides and fungicides) are used every year. Over half of these are known to cause birth defects and cancer, yet we are convinced that food can be exposed to these poisons without absorbing them. Buying organic is the best way to encourage growers to farm organically and stop the spread of poison in the land, the water supply and our food.

Opting for organic foods is an effectual choice for personal and planetary health.
